The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University in Yulin is a tertiary grade A hospital that integrates medical treatment, scientific research, teaching, prevention, and health care.
The hospital was established in 1931 and is one of the earliest public hospitals in Shaanxi Province. Currently, it is the only project unit selected in the fifth batch of national regional medical centers in Shaanxi Province.
It is also the core hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, Xi'an Medical University, Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine, and Yan'an University Affiliated Hospital, the national clinical medical research center for geriatric diseases, the Yulin branch center of the national digestive diseases clinical medical research center, the national advanced stroke center, the national standardized metabolic disease management center, the construction unit of the Chinese heart failure center, and the basic digestive endoscopy training base of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. It is also a teaching, training, and employment base for 8 institutions including the hospital.
The hospital currently has a total floor area of 175,000 square meters, with 1,650 beds and 2,016 staff members on the payroll. Among them, there are 369 senior professionals, 1 expert who enjoys special government allowances, and 14 experts who have made outstanding contributions at the municipal or provincial level.
The hospital also possesses 5,719 pieces of medical equipment worth over 10,000 yuan. The national regional medical center project plans to build 89 acres of land on the west side of the hospital in two phases. The first phase will cover 127,000 square meters and include 500 beds, while the second phase will cover approximately 160,000 square meters and also include 500 beds.
The construction will include an international conference center, expert apartments, and a comprehensive logistics service building. The hospital has 43 clinical departments and 13 medical technology departments. It has 1 national clinical key specialty (orthopedics), and 5 provincial clinical key specialties (urinary system, imaging, neurosurgery, gastroenterology, and critical care). It also has over 10 municipal medical centers, serving as the main chairing unit and quality control center for more than 30 medical associations such as nursing, pediatrics, gastroenterology, neurology, imaging, nephrology, burn and plastic surgery, orthopedics, anesthesia, cardiovascular, neurointerventional, critical care, laboratory, etc.
